San Diego
EVENT RE-CAP Joel P West & The Tree Ring at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego
Design by Andrew Glendinning
Friday, April 30th of 2010 Joel P West & The Tree Ring will perform an intimate set of music at MCASD's Sherwood Auditorium in La Jolla, CA. Joined by local indie darlings Black Mamba, Joel and The Tree Ring will be previewing a handful of new songs off their forthcoming record, along with tracks from Dust Jacket and Something Makes Us Move.
When Ford asked us to choose a San Diego-based musician that was prepared and deserving of a national spotlight, it took Dave and I all of 30 seconds to pick Joel P West. Joel has been a hidden gem amongst San Diego's recently buzzing music scene for the past several years. We've had the pleasure of watching Joel's music evolve from an acoustic project to a fleshed out string-based quartet, a.k.a. The Tree Ring.
Your RSVP on this page will not gain you access to the event, but it will gain you an unreleased MP3 from Joel P West & The Tree Ring sent directly to your inbox. RSVP below for this very special cover song Joel and crew recorded just for this event. Plus, if we muster enough support (comments/thumbs up/rvsps), Ford might select Joel P West & The Tree Ring to represent San Diego with a special performance at Bonnaroo, alongside Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z and The Flaming Lips.
To attend the show, visit Sezio.org/tickets to reserve your tickets - $8 presale, $10 at the door - available while supplies last.
